Great website find – AVO: Market – Connecting People, Cultures & local foods
Feb 13th, 2008 by food411
We recently discovered a terrific website AVO:Market – a new online collaborative work created up by RISD design graduate Brittany Kleinman. She created this website to share her amazing project of gathering pictures of open air markets around the world. The site allows you to roam the markets by location, and other criteria. You can contribute to the project and you can also locate the markets on an interactive map. We have written about open air markets many times because we are big fans of eating as much local food as possible. In addition seeing these pictures is inspirational on many levels. The colors, the many shapes, etc provide a visual that is truely unique.
“Brit Kleinman founded AVO:Market after her passion for traveling gave her the opportunity to visit markets in a variety of countries around the globe. Trained as a designer, she found an ironic beauty in these places; discovering that nothing could ever be “designed” to have the same raw energy and soul as a market.”

What beautiful pictures, I really enjoy visiting food markets when i travel, nice site
very interesting site – beautiful photos. I hope to contribute soon….
Design students rock – such beauty in such simplicity
