The concept of Food411 was born out of the frustration of learning about great food websites & products but never remembering them when sitting down at the computer. In addition, searching for particular items turned out to be an exercise in frustration, as several hours’ worth of web surfing revealed only a few web sites buried deep among hundreds of irrelevant and/or outdated results provided by the search engine.

Food411 is a one-of-a-kind, user-friendly, comprehensive online food shopping guide that is dedicated to informing food lovers about the very best online food resources, and food related information available. Its unique style and content has been specifically created to make the act of finding special foods & ingredients a more fruitful and enjoyable experience.

The websites/products were selected based on uniqueness and quality of products or services, and represent nationally recognized names, regional sources, and mom & pop products with a web presence. These are then listed within a set of particular categories meant to reflect the interests of our readers.  All are then indexed and arranged for convenient browsing, they can also be accessed by using our search feature so that, at any given moment, the right product may be found, without hassle, at the click of your mouse. 2. Why is a website needed to list other websites?

Today you can buy just about anything you want from the Internet. However, if you find a website by using a search engine, more likely than not you’re shopping from the same sites as everybody else, sites that pay marketing dollars to turn up high in your list of search results.  Or, worse yet, sites picked out by a computer. Many sites are filled with spyware and popups.

We have tackled the enormity of the World Wide Web, and whittled it down to only quality products/websites.  We don’t browse through sponsored links or statistically relevant web pages. We delve deeper, tracking products & sites found off the beaten path, taking into account the sorts of things a computer doesn’t recognize: such as how a food tastes!  Whereas search engines choose sites using artificial intelligence, Food 411 hand selects the food resources for our readers.

3. How does a site get listed on Food411?

Our sites are selected according to a strict set of criteria. Factors taken into consideration are: uniqueness of products or services, quality of products, and user-friendly site design. Each of the sites contained in food 411 exhibits at least one of these positive attributes, usually two or more of them.

4. Do people pay to be listed?

No. Maintaining objectivity is a high priority of ours, and we absolutely will not list a site that we do not feel to be justified.
